Planned Outage of Troop Website Sept. 6-7

Posted by linda.fitzjarrell on Aug 19 2019 - 4:50pm

We have been notified of a scheduled planned outage of our Troop website happening Friday, September 6th, 5PM ET into the morning of Saturday, September 7th. During this time there will be NO access to our Troop website. Our hosting provider will be cloning their servers from one data center to another.  To accomplish that, the servers cannot be online while the cloning is occurring. Which is why there will be no access to our Troop website (or email that uses the site, such as E-Blasts and alias email addresses) during the transition. This should not affect our Troop in any way. We simply wanted to give everyone a heads up, so there would not be any confusion if you try to access the Troop website during this time.

Fundraising Option

Posted by kenny.davis on Aug 18 2019 - 3:55pm

Troop 640, has been nice enough to offer up some fundraising slots to serve beer/food at home Broncos games.  They have had fewer volunteers than previous years so are desperate to find some volunteer help for this upcoming season.  You earn around $100 per game per person that works and split cash tips.  This could earn enough for summer camp in 2-3 games and probably enough for all activities with 5-6 games.  Last season, the Davis and White families were able to earn enough to send their boys to Florida Sea Base with enough left over to also attend summer camp.  The stand that we volunteer at serves beer, nachos and hot dogs.  You do need to take TIPS training to serve beer. Boys can volunteer to cook the hot dogs/brats to earn money too.  Contact Julie Berland at julieberland@q.com if you would like to volunteer.

Final Summer Campout 8/23-25 - attend some or all of the weekend

Posted by dave.pallozzi on Aug 18 2019 - 3:40pm

This will be the final "summer" camping trip before school get's too busy for everyone.  The DAC in Septmber is a "fall" camping trip.   The focus for this camping weekend is going to be rank advancement and cooking.  We are looking to complete the hiking/orienteering for the lower rank advancement requirement.  In addition we are looking to comlete the hiking meal requirement in the cooking Merit Badge.  We will also do some swimming at Soda Lake, weather permitting.  Please consider having your scout come out to the campout, even if they cannot spend the night.  In addition for all the marching Band scouts, you could come out after Saturday practice to work on some requirements, pick up a night of camping and enjoy a campfire as there are currenlty no fire bans.  Bear Creek lake park is only a short drive for all of our troop.  Hope to see you there.
